Telematics Based Analytics Allows for Xcel Energy’s Successful Infrastructure Analysis

Businesses and organizations looking to electrify their fleets face an overwhelming number of decisions. Preparing for the transition from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles requires fleet managers to work closely with utility companies to ensure adequate power supply. However, without assessing the detailed operational data, the energy requirements become an estimation based on averages. This can lead to excessive, or worse, inadequate infrastructure. The fleet advisory services provided by Sawatch Labs remove the guess work and provide a complete picture of charging infrastructure requirements.

An efficient, effective, and comprehensive fleet electrification plan must be guided by unbiased recommendations based on real-time data. A recent study conducted by the Alliance for Transportation Electrification examined the partnership between Sawatch Labs and the national utility company, Xcel Energy. The study highlighted Xcel Energy’s reliance on telematics driven analytics from Sawatch Labs to help clients successfully build out their EV infrastructure.

Using Telematics to Provide Fleet Advisory Services

Helping businesses and municipalities achieve their electrification goals begins with a detailed plan, and a detailed plan begins with high-fidelity data. At Sawatch Labs, we harness the power of vehicle telematics to gather granular data that provides minute-by-minute driving data for every vehicle in the fleet. Our analytics software leverages this data to provide utilities and fleet managers with the information they need to precisely determine a fleet’s total energy requirements without relying on misleading averages.
